1 ­ Fibergas/foam core baggage cover (shown in folded up position) located 10 inches up from main floor contains heavy articles safely. Lighter baggage is stored on top this cover.
2 ­ Baggage cover folded down and locked
3 ­ Pull out cover that protects items on the seat or baggage area from prying eyes. A window blind with the ratchet made inoperable, and lots of spring tension for positive winding.
4 ­ 2 small slotted brackets plate-nutted to baggage bulkhead, retain blind.
5 ­ Cargo straps retain forward wing skin during drilling operations.
6 ­ Shows installation of additional cross rib so aileron bellcrank pivot brackets is supported on both sides.
7 ­ Sub-dash panel with 3 rib support for dash, glove box slides and door fitted. Large umbilical cord attached to rubber mounted Visions 1000 computer and light speed timing computer. 3 full ribs also support sub dash from firewall. Sub-dash containing electrics shown in folded down position.
8 ­ Entire dash and sub-dash shown before final installation. Lower switch sub- dash is tilted upward 10 degrees for easier viewing.
9 ­ Dash after fitting of oak overlay and instruments. Glovebox door is spring loaded closed. 7 rubber mounts support the flight instrument panel. Lower electrics sub-panel is held up to main dash with 5 allen screws.
10- Shows conduit for wing and tail wiring positioned up and forward over the spar, not through it. Rudder pedals lightened `a la Ferrari. Rib for 5th seat belt shown in gold.
11- Fuel plumbing, quick drain gascolator and fuel filter unit, ŚWeldoną fuel pump and ŚLight Speedą ignition unit rubber mounted to firewall in cool can. Fuel line from inside shut-off valve exits into the engine compartment in can too, to prevent vapor lock under hot conditions.
12- Shows cool can sides, both hot air heaters shown exit their closed-position hot air downwards. Angle placement of engine oil cooler directs itsą hot air into cowl outlet air stream. Oil cooler has dash operated butterfly valve to control air into cooler ­ used in cruise descent to keep up the engine temperatures.
13- Shows cool can with cover installed (wing headed bolts). Engine oil separator above cool can. Filter/governor firewall box installed upside down because I do not have a prop governor. The box drains better this way, and it gives me more room on the other side of the firewall for other installations.
14- Shows completed engine with SCAT air tubes connected to heaters and cool can. Easy reversal of heater duct hoses for cold air to cabin in summer. Red device is one of the capacitive discharge ignition coils firing upper spark plugs.
15- And now the painting. Alumaprep acid wash followed by Alodine, then Corlar Primer, then Base Coat/Clear Coat Polyurethane 2 part paint.
16- For a month and a half painting in my 2 car garage goes forth.
17- And then the fuselage. Shown after the Corlar primer. 37 pieces of airplane to paint.
18- Fuselage after paint. 2 ­ 10 inch exhaust fans on one side of room with furnace filtered air on other side. Full coveralls, proper mask, gloves, etc., needed here as this paint is lethal.
19- Foam padded buck was used to support canopy ­ proved very good at holding this unwieldy bubble during cutting and finishing. Better than side boards.
20- Wing rotator worked very well. 5/8 plywood with a piece of _ plywood each side to form a pulley. 3/8 rope suspended from 2 ceiling hooks goes around it. Rectangular cut-out for spar in centre. Friction of rope holds wing in any position. _ inch pipe flanged to piece of plywood clamped to end rib of wing, protrudes a couple of feet for other pivot.
21- Ready for the trip to the airport.
